Welcome from the Chair of Governors.

Hello and welcome to the Governors’ section of St. Elphin’s Church of England Primary School website, where you can find out more about the work of the Governing Body and who’s who.

Our ambitious vision for the school is to be a dynamic, inspirational Centre of Excellence with high academic achievement for our pupils and with our highly professional and dedicated staff delivering a wide and balanced curriculum this ambition can be realised.  As well as making progress and achieving their very best educationally we want every child to thrive and enjoy their time at St Elphin’s and to be able to look forward to each school day with enthusiasm, excited by the prospect of their learning journey, thus creating a culture for lifelong learning.

Governors are part of the strategic leadership of the school and our objective is to ensure that every child receives the best possible educational experience.  Our role is achieved through challenging and supporting the school leadership team; we do this through asking probing questions when monitoring the school improvement plan, pupil progress data and checking for efficient management of resources. We are also responsible for overseeing the school’s budget. The page “Role of a School Governor - What a Governor Does” offers more detailed information about our work.

St Elphin’s is very popular which confirms that parents are keen for their children to attend  this warm, friendly, caring and safe school and to experience the values of our Christian ethos.

If you have any questions about the work of the Governing Body, please do make contact through the School Office in the normal ways.
